The road to WWE Money in the Bank has been littered with drama and excitement, which suggests it could be the company's most anticipated show of the year so far.

With a seemingly unpredictable marquee match to determine who will hold the coveted briefcase and the return of Seth Rollins to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture, next month's show has all the hallmarks of a classic.

There are still weeks to go in terms of locking in the entire card, but even with just a handful of matches confirmed, this seems to be a show where surprises aplenty will be in the cards.

Here's a tentative guess at what the card is going to look like and what kinds of swerves we may see.

At the time of writing, there are already two matches confirmed for the show:

2016 Money in the Bank ladder match: Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro vs. Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. one other participant
WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns
Expect both of the company's midcard titles to be on the line at Money in the Bank, too. Going off the first week of booking following Extreme Rules, it seems likely that Titus O'Neil is going to step up and get a shot at Rusev's United States Championship.

But what about The Miz? The three men he successfully beat off at Extreme Rules are all in the show's marquee match, which means he needs a fresh foe. John Cena's return could mean he's the man to fill that gap, as the two have substantial history.

Charlotte vs. Natalya looks to be the most likely Women's Championship match—unless Sasha Banks is cleared to return in time to piece together a feud with Charlotte.

Expect The New Day to also be in action against The Vaudevillains, with a potential second tag match on the cards, too, as Enzo Amore and Big Cass' rivalry with The Dudley Boyz continues.

The pre-show may see Apollo Crews vs. Sheamus.

It seems WWE is teasing a split between Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson and AJ Styles, but at Money in the Bank, they will join forces once again to set up the angle that will determine their summer.

The Club is dead, and having Styles lose a couple of matches here and there between now and the pay-per-view will set up a spectacular reunion as the show approaches.

Styles will come to terms with the fact that, together as a trio, The Club can destroy the main roster. It's how they should have been booked to start with, and it should kick off for real at MITB.

They'll come down and cause absolute mayhem in the marquee match of the evening, leaving a trail of destruction behind them and allowing one man to climb to the top and get the briefcase.

Crucially, they'll take out heels like Chris Jericho and the likes of Sami Zayn and Dean Ambrose. It will mean that, no matter who you are, you're not safe from The Club.

Whether the final participant for the Money in the Bank ladder match is revealed on Raw this week or not, the arrival of Finn Balor on WWE's main roster will happen at the upcoming pay-per-view.

He could turn up unscheduled to set up an angle with AJ Styles and The Club. He could even turn up in the marquee match itself, costing a top babyface like Dean Ambrose in order to set up a hot summer feud.

But regardless of the actual intricacies of his booking, the time for Balor's promotion to the main roster is now approaching at a serious pace.

He's ready for this next step, and with the brand split on the horizon, Money in the Bank feels like a perfect stage for him to announce his arrival and make his presence felt.

A large part of it comes down to the natural reaction returning Superstars get after injury setbacks, but Seth Rollins' pops from the crowds at WWE events since Extreme Rules suggest it's only a matter of time before he's a breakout babyface.

WWE should realize it has a perfect opportunity to pull off the double turn, something which, when done properly, can be career-defining.

WWE's mission to force Roman Reigns into the top babyface spot was barely off the ground anyway, but when Rollins returned to a huge ovation, it should have become apparent that fans want to see The Architect as their top guy.

On top of that, it's obvious that turning Reigns heel will give his career a major boost. Fans are keen to see Rollins in a babyface role, too, so creating a double turn makes sense.

How it's done is up for debate, but something along the lines of Reigns edging a classic before absolutely savaging Rollins post-match makes sense.

John Cena, who has co-hosted "The Today Show" on several occasions, appeared on the show on Monday in New York to promote his return to WWE RAW. Cena has been out of action for several months now with a shoulder injury.
